The hand carved wooden frame was crafted in the Louis Philippe style, an eclectic development of French neoclassicism popularly seen in the early 19th century. This style incorporates neo-Gothic elements, creating a decorative French style that appealed to the tastes of the upper class. This style was taken directly from the personality of the King himself, who didn’t wear the formal robes that were expected of him. He did not participate in ceremonies, carried his own umbrella, and imposed no official styles, features that left a lasting impression upon France and this his style of architecture and design. Furniture crafted in this style is similar to the earlier French Restoration style but with a bit less frills and decorations. Instead, comfort and practicality was put ahead of extravagance, something that the King himself would be proud of.

The subject in the cartouche at the top includes delicate scrollwork and other decorative accents as well as scrollwork at both bottom corners. These are newly crafted pieces making them excellent to use in pairings.
