This rare 19th century French double-syphon or "doule syphon" seltzer bottle is shaped like a gourd with a large lower chamber and a smaller upper chamber. These would typically have a chain cage around the glass to protect the piece, and to offer better grip when in use, but this piece has lost that feature. However, evidence of that feature is left behind by the rust patterns on the glass. The neck of the bottle is engraved with the maker's mark "L. Gilles et Cie" and "PARIS" as well as a patent mark. 

This piece measures 15.5"H x 6"Dia (at widest point). The base does have a chip/loss  to the bottom (shown) as well as patination throughout.
