Sourced in Reims, France, this pairing of solid wood riddling racks are a wonderful tool of the champagne production process. The riddling rack was first introduced at the Champagne house of Veuve Clicquot in France. It aided the mass production of Champagne in the early 19th century when Madame Clicquot invented it for the important role of disgorgement.
Each of the racks in this pairing holds 60 bottles. The racks would have been used together, hinged at the top and connected by an iron chain to allow bottles to be placed on either side for a total of 120 bottles. They measure 28.5" W x 59.5" H x 2" D each. Sold separately, but can be purchased as a pairing. This pair are not hinged or attached, but they are identical in size and style.
